| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 2254.102(e), Government Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (e) This subchapter does not apply to a contract for legal | |
| 13 | 13 | services entered into by a political subdivision for the collection | |
| 14 | 14 | of an obligation, as defined by Section 2107.001, that is | |
| 15 | 15 | delinquent [under Section 6.30, Tax Code, Article 103.0031, Code of | |
| 16 | 16 | Criminal Procedure,] or for services under Section 1201.027, [of | |
| 17 | 17 | this code] except that Sections 2254.1032, 2254.1034, 2254.1036, | |
| 18 | 18 | and 2254.1037 do apply to the contract. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 2254.102(e), Government Code, as amended | |
| 20 | 20 | by this Act, applies only to a contract entered into on or after the | |
| 21 | 21 | effective date of this Act. A contract entered into before the | |
| 22 | 22 | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect | |
| 23 | 23 | immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that law is | |
| 24 | 24 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
