                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             May 28, 2021       TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate  Honorable Dade Phelan, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB601 by Perry (Relating to the creation and activities of the Texas Produced Water Consortium.), Conference Committee Report     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would create the Texas Produced Water Consortium consisting of the host university, the agency advisory council, the stakeholder advisory council, the technical and economic steering committee, and private entities. The Consortium would be required to study the economics of beneficial uses of fluid oil and gas waste and technology needed for those uses. The bill would require Texas Tech University, the host university, to provide staff and other resources to the consortium, to implement provisions of the legislation. Texas Tech University indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would amend the Special District Local Laws Code as it relates to the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District.
