 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a report by a school authority of a communicable disease
 during a declared state of disaster.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 81, Health and Safety
 Code, is amended by adding Section 81.0425 to read as follows:
 Sec. 81.0425.  SCHOOL AUTHORITY REPORT DURING DECLARED
 DISASTER. A school authority shall report to the department and the
 Texas Education Agency if a child attending school or an employee or
 volunteer at the school provides notice to the authority that the
 individual is infected with a communicable disease for which the
 governor has declared a state of disaster under Section 418.014,
 Government Code.
 SECTION 2.  Section 81.0425, Health and Safety Code, as
 added by this Act, applies only to notice provided to a school
 authority on or after the effective date of this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
