88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. The heading to Title 11, Government Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 TITLE 11. STATE SYMBOLS, RECOGNITIONS, AND HONORS; PRESERVATION
1212 SECTION 2. The heading to Subtitle A, Title 11, Government
1313 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1414 SUBTITLE A. STATE SYMBOLS, RECOGNITIONS, AND HONORS
1515 SECTION 3. Subtitle A, Title 11, Government Code, is
1616 amended by adding Chapter 3107 to read as follows:
1717 CHAPTER 3107. STATE RECOGNITION
1818 Sec. 3107.001. STATE RECOGNITION OF NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN
1919 TRIBE. (a) The Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation is designated and
2020 recognized by this state as a Native American Indian Tribe
2121 exercising substantial governmental powers and duties.
2222 (b) The tribe is recognized as eligible for all programs,
2323 services, and other benefits provided to state-recognized Native
2424 American Indian Tribes by the United States, this state, or any
2525 other state because of the tribe members' status as Native American
2626 Indians.
2727 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
