| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 193, Health and Safety Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | by adding Section 193.012 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 193.012. NOTICE OF CERTAIN DEATH CERTIFICATE | |
| 13 | 13 | AMENDMENTS. A person who submits to the department a request for a | |
| 14 | 14 | death certificate amendment to modify the medical certification | |
| 15 | 15 | information on the certificate shall provide in the manner | |
| 16 | 16 | prescribed by the department written notice of the modification to | |
| 17 | 17 | a decedent's next of kin. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 193.012, Health and Safety Code, as | |
| 19 | 19 | added by this Act, applies only to a death certificate for which an | |
| 20 | 20 | amendment to modify the medical certification information is | |
| 21 | 21 | requested on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
