| 7 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 8 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | |
| 9 | 11 | amended by adding Section 434.027 to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 12 | Sec. 434.027. CITIZENSHIP ASSISTANCE FOR VETERANS. On | |
| 11 | 13 | request of a veteran, the Texas Veterans Commission shall evaluate | |
| 12 | 14 | the veteran's citizenship status in order to: | |
| 13 | 15 | (1) educate and direct the veteran in becoming a | |
| 14 | 16 | United States citizen; and | |
| 15 | 17 | (2) facilitate the veteran's naturalization process. | |
| 16 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | |
