| 8 | 8 | | Marching Band Contest, held at Pine Tree High School in Longview on |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Cohosted with the National Association of Military |

| 11 | 11 | | Marching Bands, the event was the first of its kind in Texas and |

| 12 | 12 | | followed the decision by UIL officials to divide the corps and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | military marching styles into separate high school competitions; |
|---|

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Pride of Lindale Band earned its place in the |

| 16 | 16 | | finals by receiving a Division 1 Sweepstakes Award at the Region 21 |

| 17 | 17 | | Marching Contest on November 18; at the state event, the Eagles |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | competed against 10 of the top marching bands in Texas; the Lindale |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ensemble impressed the panel of judges, achieving a total score of |

| 20 | 20 | | eight and collecting perfect marks in marching to take home the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | coveted championship; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Lindale High School's marching band is made up of |

| 23 | 23 | | 158 dedicated members under the able leadership of head band |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | director Steven Moore and his staff of assistant directors; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The talented Eagle performers have distinguished |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | themselves through their hard work and commitment to excellence, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and their recognition as one of the premier marching bands in the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Lone Star State is a source of tremendous pride for their school and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | hereby congratulate the Lindale High School band on winning the 4A |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | championship at the 2020 UIL State Military Class Marching Band |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Contest and extend to all those associated with the ensemble |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
