4	4		SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
5	5		WHEREAS, Eddie Garner Clement, an esteemed member of the
6	6		Paris, Texas, community and a friend to many, passed away on January
7	7		19, 2021, at the age of 55; and
8	8		WHEREAS, The son of Ted Garner Clement and Carol Ann Clement,
9	9		Eddie Clement was born on August 7, 1965, in Dallas and grew up in
10	10		Duncanville with a sister, Eva; he completed his bachelor of
11	11		business administration degree in management at The University of
12	12		Texas at Arlington, where he made lasting friendships as a member of
13	13		Phi Delta Theta and discovered his love of music and entertainment;
14	14		through the years, he delighted in acting as DJ for any event and
15	15		always knew exactly what to play to make everyone happy; and
16	16		WHEREAS, Mr. Clement embarked on a career with the Sonic
17	17		Drive-In chain, and he was a member of the board of Lamar National
18	18		Bank; giving generously of his time and expertise, he also served on
19	19		the boards of numerous civic organizations, among them Denver
20	20		Pyle's Children's Charities, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce,
21	21		the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Boys &
22	22		Girls Club of Paris, which included him on its Wall of Honor; he was
23	23		a valued congregant of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a
24	24		third-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus; and
25	25		WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clement shared a
26	26		fulfilling marriage of 26 years with his wife, Monica Homer
27	27		Clement, and he was the proud father of three children, Avery,
28	28		Mollie, and Adam; in his free time, he liked a good round of golf,
29	29		but above all, he enjoyed helping others in any way he could; and
30	30		WHEREAS, Eddie Clement lived a caring and purposeful life,
31	31		and although he is deeply missed by those he left behind, they will
32	32		forever cherish their memories of his warmth and kindness; now,
33	33		therefore, be it
34	34		RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas
35	35		hereby pay tribute to the life of Eddie Garner Clement and extend
36	36		sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further
37	37		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
38	38		prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
39	39		Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
40	40		Eddie Garner Clement.
