| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The community of Celina is renowned for the special |

| 7 | 7 | | effort it makes to celebrate Halloween, and it has created a |

| 8 | 8 | | much-anticipated event that is visited by ghosts, witches, mummies, |

| 9 | 9 | | and a multitude of other costumed revelers from all around North |

| 10 | 10 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Hailed as the largest Halloween celebration in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | area, Beware! Of the Square draws as many as 7,000 people to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Celina's historic downtown square each year; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Featuring activities for all ages, Beware! Of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Square includes trick-or-treating, with candy provided by local |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | businesses, as well as Halloween-themed music and an obstacle |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | course and other activities for younger children; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Celina High School theater department |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | contributes to the fun by presenting its special Halloween play, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Nightmare on the Hill; the frightfully exciting evening concludes |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with the outdoor screening of a scary film in the square; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, By joining together for Beware! Of the Square, the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | residents of Celina and surrounding communities have created a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | popular Halloween tradition that is beloved by young and old alike, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and this delightful event serves as an opportunity to showcase the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | city and to enjoy a spooky good time; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | hereby designate Celina as the official Halloween Capital of North |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | passed by the legislature. |
