| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Charles Moser, who has been inducted into the Texas |

| 4 | 4 | | Newspaper Foundation Hall of Fame by the Texas Press Association; |

| 5 | 5 | | and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to those who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | have been credited with outstanding achievements in journalism |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and with significant contributions to the newspaper industry and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | their communities; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Charles Moser served with distinction for more |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | than 40 years as editor and publisher of the Banner-Press; he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | began his distinguished career in journalism while attending Sam |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Houston State University, and after his service in the United |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | States Air Force Reserve, he worked at newspapers along the Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Gulf Coast before joining the Banner-Press as editor and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | publisher in 1970; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the Banner-Press became |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | known for quality journalism and editorial content, and he earned |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | numerous awards for his work, including a Lifetime Achievement in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Print Journalism honor from the Sam Houston State University |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Journalism Department; he served as director and president of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Texas Daily Newspaper Association and as director of the Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Press Association; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, He has served as a mentor to countless young |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | journalists, and he has been active in a wide range of civic |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | organizations in the Brenham community; it is truly fitting |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | that he receive special recognition for the positive impact |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | he has had on the newspaper industry in Texas; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Charles Moser on his long and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | distinguished career in journalism and extend congratulations to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | him on his induction into the Texas Newspaper Foundation Hall of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Fame; and, be it further |
