| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Steve Gomez, who died January 25, 2021, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 44; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This exemplary Texan was a devoted husband, son, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | father, and grandfather, an esteemed public servant, and a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | cherished friend to many; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A native of Austin, Steve Gomez was born to Roy |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Linda Gomez, on April 9, 1976; he shared 26 years of marriage |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with his beloved wife, Pauletta Gomez, and they were well-liked |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | residents of the Pflugerville community; Steve enjoyed a 23-year |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | career with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, and he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | loved his work and was admired by his colleagues for his friendly |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | demeanor and strong work ethic; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Steve was an adoring father to his two children, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Gabby Gomez and Steven Gomez, and he was blessed with two |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | grandchildren, Zayden and Zoey, who enriched his life |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | immeasurably; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gomez enjoyed barbecuing for friends and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | family, and he was an avid fan of The University of Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Yankees; when his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | son was young, he formed a children's baseball team, which later |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | expanded to include many in the neighborhood; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, kindness, and integrity, Steve |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Gomez was a treasured citizen who touched the lives of many, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | he will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all who |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | family of Steve Gomez; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |

| 37 | 37 | | memory of Steve Gomez. |
