| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Richard and Maurine Cain for their many contributions |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | to the City of Saint Jo, Texas; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Natives of California, Dick and Maurine Cain are |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | trusted professionals in the field of wildlife management |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | consulting; they purchased a large property on the outskirts of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Saint Jo in 2003 and established Trophy Ridge Whitetails; their |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | newly designed state-of-the-art breeding facilities enabled them |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to pioneer significant advancements in deer management; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, For more than 17 years, Dick and Maurine gave |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | generously of their time and talents to the benefit of the Saint |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Jo community; they devoted countless hours to supporting the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Stonewall Saloon Museum, and their work on behalf of the Saint Jo |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Chamber of Commerce helped to set the organization on a sound |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | financial foundation; their volunteer activities also included |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | decorating the downtown Chisholm Trail Square for holiday events |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and cooking at fund-raising concession stands; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Cain began their Texas journey in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1970, when Dick joined the faculty of Texas A&M University as a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | professor of poultry science, genetics, and game bird |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | management, and he went on to earn acclaim for his expertise on |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | quail; he and Maurine also owned a successful McDonald's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | franchise for 17 years prior to their move to Saint Jo; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Dick and Maurine Cain are treasured former |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Texans; they can reflect with pride on an impressive legacy of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | civic service in the Saint Jo community, and their presence in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the Lone Star State is greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dick and Maurine Cain on their lasting |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | contributions to the City of Saint Jo and the State of Texas and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
