| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Sergeant Alonzo Gonzalez, who retired from the El Campo |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Police Department on February 28, 2021, after 43 years in law |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | enforcement; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A native of El Campo, Alonzo Gonzalez graduated |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | from Louise High School and from the Victoria Police Academy, and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | he devoted three years of service to the Victoria Police |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Department as a patrol officer; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, On March 20, 1981, Officer Gonzalez was hired by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the El Campo Police Department, and for the next four decades, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | worked diligently to protect and serve his hometown community; he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | moved up through the ranks to become a field training officer and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | then a patrol sergeant, and he turned down the opportunity to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | become a detective so that he could continue to actively handle |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the duties of a patrolman; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Sergeant |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Gonzalez effectively managed the far-reaching responsibilities |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and challenges of his positions in the field of law enforcement; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | he is admired by his colleagues and by area citizens for his hard |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | work, courage, and perseverance, and his presence with the El |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Campo Police Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Alonzo Gonzalez on his outstanding |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | career as a law enforcement officer and on 40 years of invaluable |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | service to the El Campo community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
