| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Joey Gann and Morgan Hix of the Fort Worth Fire |

| 3 | 3 | | Department demonstrated great courage in the line of duty when |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | they rescued two children from a house fire; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gann is a 17-year veteran of the department, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | while Mr. Hix has only been on the job for five months; on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | February 1, 2021, the two firefighters arrived on the scene of a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | house fire on South Jennings Avenue, where they were told by the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | children's father that his two sons were trapped in a back |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | bedroom; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Entering the residence, Mr. Gann and Mr. Hix |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | worked their way through thick black smoke to the children's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | bedroom; there, they found a one-year-old toddler in a playpen |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and a four-year-old boy asleep on a bed; they quickly transported |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the children back through the smoke-filled home and out through |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the front door; both boys, along with their father, were |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | stabilized by paramedics at the scene and subsequently treated |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for serious smoke inhalation and related injuries at a local |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | hospital; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Every day, Texas firefighters are called upon to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | put themselves in harm's way to come to the aid of their fellow |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | citizens, and Mr. Gann's and Mr. Hix's valiant actions have |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | distinguished them as exemplary members of their profession; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Joey Gann and Morgan Hix of the Fort |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Worth Fire Department for saving the lives of two children on |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | February 1, 2021, and extend to them heartfelt appreciation for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | their dedication and heroism; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That official copies of this Resolution be |

| 31 | 31 | | prepared for Mr. Gann and Mr. Hix as an expression of high regard |
