2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Oil and Gas Association and to join its |
---|
4 | 4 | | members and partners in celebrating Virtual Texas Energy Day at |
---|
5 | 5 | | the Capitol on March 24, 2021; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Texas leads the nation in oil and natural gas |
---|
7 | 7 | | production, pipeline miles, and refining capacity, all of which |
---|
8 | 8 | | have led to an unprecedented level of national energy security; |
---|
9 | 9 | | the flourishing oil and natural gas industry plays a fundamental |
---|
10 | 10 | | role in the state's robust economy and is responsible for |
---|
11 | 11 | | directly and indirectly creating more than one million Texas |
---|
12 | 12 | | jobs; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Royalties from Texas oil and natural gas serve as |
---|
14 | 14 | | primary funding for the Economic Stabilization Fund, the |
---|
15 | 15 | | Permanent School Fund, and the Permanent University Fund; in |
---|
16 | 16 | | 2020, Texas school districts received more than $2 billion in |
---|
17 | 17 | | property taxes collected from industry holdings, and Texas |
---|
18 | 18 | | counties received more than $688 million in revenue from these |
---|
19 | 19 | | taxes; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The oil and natural gas industry is also a leading |
---|
21 | 21 | | investor in emission-reducing technologies and has helped drive |
---|
22 | 22 | | innovation in modern clean practices; efforts to reduce |
---|
23 | 23 | | emissions and flaring have led to new environmental solutions, |
---|
24 | 24 | | and less than one percent of natural gas produced in Texas is |
---|
25 | 25 | | flared or vented; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The oil and natural gas industry helps to power |
---|
27 | 27 | | economic prosperity, fortifies the state's energy security, and |
---|
28 | 28 | | makes possible the vast majority of products and materials |
---|
29 | 29 | | citizens use every day; it is indeed fitting that the Texas Oil |
---|
30 | 30 | | and Gas Association and its partners be recognized for their |
---|
31 | 31 | | contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Oil and Gas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Association and all who have contributed to the state's thriving |
---|
35 | 35 | | oil and natural gas industry and extend to them best wishes for a |
---|
36 | 36 | | rewarding Virtual Texas Energy Day at the Capitol; and, be it |
