1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 200
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the members of the United States armed forces who so
4	4	honorably served our nation during the Vietnam War and to pay
5	5	tribute to them on the occasion of Vietnam Veterans Day on March
6	6	29, 2021; and
7	7	WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest military
8	8	conflicts in United States history; more than three million
9	9	Americans served in Southeast Asia during the war, with more than
10	10	58,000 making the ultimate sacrifice, including more than 3,400
11	11	Texans; and
12	12	WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of the
13	13	thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
14	14	Legislature of the State of Texas passed House Concurrent
15	15	Resolution 36, which called for the construction of a monument on
16	16	the Capitol grounds to pay tribute to those who took part in the
17	17	conflict; the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was
18	18	dedicated on March 29, 2014; and
19	19	WHEREAS, The men and women who served the nation during the
20	20	Vietnam War embodied the highest standards of courage,
21	21	sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and their heroic actions set a
22	22	lasting example that will live forever in the annals of American
23	23	history; and
24	24	WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these brave veterans be
25	25	recognized for their patriotism and their service on behalf of
26	26	the nation as Texans across the state observe Vietnam Veterans
27	27	Day; now, therefore, be it
28	28	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
29	29	Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the United States
30	30	armed forces who served during the Vietnam War on their
31	31	extraordinary service to their nation; and, be it further
32	32	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
33	33	honor of their great dedication and their sacrifice.
