| 4 | 4 | | Educational Theatre Association, and the International Thespian |

| 5 | 5 | | Society in celebrating March of 2021 as Theatre In Our Schools |

|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The arts have been a part of the human journey for |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | thousands of years, and theater is an integral part of a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | well-rounded arts education; by describing, defining, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | celebrating the human experience, the arts add depth and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | perspective to our lives and our environment; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Participation in theater contributes to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | development of students by enhancing their listening skills and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | stimulating self-expression and creativity; theater classes help |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | develop an individual's self-confidence and can increase one's |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | empathy and compassion while highlighting the importance of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | teamwork and open communication; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Whether as a creative outlet or as the first steps |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | toward a professional career, theater programs play a vital role |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in preparing students to face the challenges of today's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | ever-changing society; it is indeed fitting that a month be set |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | aside to raise awareness of the value of theater education for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | every student; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March of 2021 as Theatre In Our |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Schools Month and encourage all Texans to celebrate the state's |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | theater programs and their teachers and students; and, be it |
|---|

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
