55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the many Texans in the medical community who lost
77 their lives in service as frontline workers during the COVID-19
88 pandemic; and
99 WHEREAS, Careers in health care require unwavering
1010 integrity, commitment, and compassion by those who choose to
1111 serve in the medical field, and those people make a positive
1212 difference in the lives of countless individuals; whether they
1313 serve as physicians, nurses, technicians, or administrators,
1414 these trusted care providers work each day to help heal the sick
1515 and hurting, and their exemplary service is an inspiration to
1616 Texans across the state; and
1717 WHEREAS, Hundreds of Texas families are mourning the loss
1818 of treasured loved ones who contracted the coronavirus while
1919 helping to protect their fellow citizens in service as COVID-19
2020 frontline workers; and
2121 WHEREAS, In addition to caring for the sick, many of our
2222 fallen health care providers gave generously of their time to
2323 charitable causes and community organizations; their civic
2424 contributions have helped improve lives and communities
2525 throughout the state; and
2626 WHEREAS, It is the responsibility of all Texans to honor
2727 the memory of those in the medical community whose lives were
2828 tragically lost to COVID-19 and to offer support to the families
2929 of those fallen heroes; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3131 Legislature, hereby honor physicians and other members of the
3232 Texas medical community who died after selflessly serving on the
3333 front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and extend sincere
3434 condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones; and, be
3535 it further
3636 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3737 the families of our fallen health care workers.
