| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jose Maria Gonzalez Jr. for 46 years of exemplary |

| 4 | 4 | | service with King Ranch, Incorporated; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A native of Raymondville, Jose Gonzalez was born |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | into a hardworking migrant family; he left his studies at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Raymondville High School to help provide for his family as a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | migrant laborer, and he was hired at the Norias Division of King |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Ranch a few months before his 19th birthday; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Jose was proud to contribute to the success of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | iconic ranch, and he met his life's love, Celestina Deluna, while |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | working there; the two married and raised their three children at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the ranch, and today, they are the proud grandparents of a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | cherished granddaughter; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Jose served in Support Services for the Norias |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Division of the ranch throughout his career; he helped maintain |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | agricultural structures, manage prescribed burns, and provide |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | groundskeeping and groundwater services; after earning his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | general educational development diploma in 1998, he obtained his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Class C Water Systems Operator License from the Texas Commission |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on Environmental Quality; he also was able to showcase his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | outstanding cooking skills in his part-time role with the family |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and shareholders of the ranch, Groves-Alexander, LLC, which |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | allowed him opportunities to cook for many notable individuals, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | such as Jay Novacek, Princess Elena of Spain, and his all-time |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | favorite actor, Robert Duvall; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Jose Gonzalez has been a cherished presence at the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | King Ranch and an invaluable asset to a proud Texas business; he |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | can reflect with pride on his lifelong career as he looks forward |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to the retirement years ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jose Gonzalez on his outstanding |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | career of service at the Lone Star State's most celebrated ranch |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be |
