2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The retirement of Eddie McBride as president and |

3 | 3 | | CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce on January 31, 2022, |

4 | 4 | | offers a fitting opportunity to reflect on his outstanding record |
---|
5 | 5 | | of achievement; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. McBride has ably led the Lubbock chamber |
---|
7 | 7 | | since 1999; as president and CEO, he has been essential to the |
---|
8 | 8 | | success of many community initiatives, such as the "Giant Side of |
---|
9 | 9 | | Texas" campaign, the Imagine Lubbock Together plan, and the |
---|
10 | 10 | | Lubbock Economic Development Alliance; moreover, he has played a |
---|
11 | 11 | | vital role in a citywide branding campaign and helped spearhead |
---|
12 | 12 | | several ballot measures, and the chamber earned several |
---|
13 | 13 | | impressive distinctions under his leadership; before joining the |
---|
14 | 14 | | Lubbock chamber, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. |
---|
15 | 15 | | Air Force and as executive director of the Lubbock Reese |
---|
16 | 16 | | Redevelopment Authority; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. McBride has been recognized |
---|
18 | 18 | | with the Developer of the Year award from the National |
---|
19 | 19 | | Association of Installation Developers and the Distinguished |
---|
20 | 20 | | Service and Marvin Hurley Lifetime Achievement Awards from the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and he has served on the |
---|
22 | 22 | | boards of various professional and community organizations, |
---|
23 | 23 | | including the Covenant Hospital and Workforce Solutions of the |
---|
24 | 24 | | South Plains; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. McBride has enjoyed the |
---|
26 | 26 | | love and support of his wife, Debbie, and their children, Chelsea |
---|
27 | 27 | | and Patrick, and he has had the pleasure of seeing his family grow |
---|
28 | 28 | | to include four grandchildren, Olivia, Jake, James, and Thomas; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Eddie |
---|
30 | 30 | | McBride may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in |
---|
31 | 31 | | its behalf and on the knowledge that his contributions will |
---|
32 | 32 | | benefit area Texans for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby honor Eddie McBride on the occasion of his |
---|
35 | 35 | | retirement as president and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of |
---|
36 | 36 | | Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
---|
