5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |
---|
6 | 6 | | generosity of restauranteur Ida Gonzales Ramos of San Antonio, |
---|
7 | 7 | | who passed away on February 7, 2020, at the age of 76; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Nicolas and Paulita Gonzales, the |
---|
9 | 9 | | former Ida Gonzales was born in Tilden on September 5, 1943, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | grew up with the companionship of four brothers, Cosme, Nicolas, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Ruben, and Refugio, and four sisters, Maria, Casey, Dora, and |
---|
12 | 12 | | Gloria; she married Richard Ramos, and they became the proud |
---|
13 | 13 | | parents of three daughters, Brenda, Gina, and Jennifer; through |
---|
14 | 14 | | the years, Ms. Ramos experienced the joy of welcoming into her |
---|
15 | 15 | | treasured family five grandsons, Branden, Seth, Bryan, Stephon, |
---|
16 | 16 | | and Solomon, as well as a great-grandson, Connor; she set an |
---|
17 | 17 | | example of strength and determination for the younger |
---|
18 | 18 | | generations and instilled in them the value of hard work; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Ramos was the owner of El Torero Restaurant |
---|
20 | 20 | | for more than 44 years, and she extended a warm welcome to all, |
---|
21 | 21 | | including families, politicians, softball and dart teams, |
---|
22 | 22 | | teachers from Riverside Park Elementary, and anyone who needed |
---|
23 | 23 | | love and compassion, as well as a good meal; over the years, she |
---|
24 | 24 | | became a mother figure to a host of people, offering hugs, a |
---|
25 | 25 | | shoulder to cry on, wise counsel, or kind words of encouragement; |
---|
26 | 26 | | she was a strong advocate for her Southside community, and she |
---|
27 | 27 | | was especially dedicated to VFW Post No. 9186; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Although Ida Ramos will be deeply missed, the |
---|
29 | 29 | | passage of time will never diminish the joy and love that she |
---|
30 | 30 | | brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Ida Gonzales Ramos |
---|
33 | 33 | | and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, |
---|
34 | 34 | | be it further |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

36 | 36 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
