| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Lipan High School girls' basketball team, which won |

| 4 | 4 | | the 2021 University Interscholastic League Class 2A state |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | championship; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Lipan Lady Indians won the title in their |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | first year as a Class 2A program by defeating the Martin's Mill |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | High School Mustangs by a score of 44-39; it was the first state |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | title for the Indians since the Class 1A Indians won the state |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | championship in 2016; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, These student athletes demonstrated great talent |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and perseverance throughout the year and ended the season with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | record of 30-3; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Team members are Taylor Branson, Marti Seymour, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lili Cogdill, Kaylee Little, Lynsey Little, Madison Harrison, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Taylor Clark, Olivia Benitez, Chelsea Lott, Kloe Pasket, Ashlyn |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Clark, Ellie Peacock, Trinity Benitez, and Maggie Peacock; they |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | can each take pride in their outstanding performances; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |

| 20 | 20 | | head coach Amber Branson and assistant coaches Misty Little and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Aaron Callaway, the Indians developed exceptional teamwork and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | discipline; the team received invaluable support from managers |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Paxton Murry, Hanna Gaylor, and Kynzi Callaway and from water |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | girl Telese Branson; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Lipan High School and the people of Lipan are |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | proud of the Indians for their hard work, their impressive |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Lipan High School girls' |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | basketball team on its successful season and congratulate the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Indians on winning the 2021 University Interscholastic League |
