2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Dr. James Allan Curry, who is retiring as director of
4	4	the Bob Bullock Scholars Program at Baylor University after 20
5	5	years of distinguished leadership; and
6	6	WHEREAS, An esteemed academician, Dr. James Curry is the
7	7	Bob Bullock Professor of Public Policy and Administration at
8	8	Baylor University; his specializations include such areas as
9	9	constitutional government, public administration, criminal
10	10	justice, and administrative law; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The Bob Bullock Scholars Program was established
12	12	in 2000 as a joint effort of Baylor University, the Bob Bullock
13	13	family, and members of the Texas Senate to honor the memory of
14	14	former lieutenant governor Bob Bullock; Mr. Bullock graduated
15	15	from Baylor Law School and went on to become a model for public
16	16	administration and fiscal responsibility and served as an
17	17	esteemed lieutenant governor for the Texas Senate; and
18	18	WHEREAS, The scholars program places Baylor University
19	19	students in appropriate legislative offices during the Texas
20	20	legislative sessions; Dr. Curry has served as the director of the
21	21	program since its inception, and in this role he has helped many
22	22	young students to carve successful paths to lead rewarding
23	23	careers in politics and public administration; and
24	24	WHEREAS, The Bullock scholars for the 87th Legislative
25	25	Session are Nicholas Baker, in Representative Leach's office;
26	26	Caleb Barkman, in Representative Kacal's office; Lilac Ding, in
27	27	Senator Creighton's office; Tarshyana Hall, in Senator West's
28	28	office; Lizzy Headley, in Senator Nelson's office; Raychel
29	29	Polk,inRepresentativeTurner's office; Lilly Price, in Senator
30	30	Zaffirini's office; Garrett Taylor, in Senator Birdwell's
31	31	office; Amon Thapa, in Senator Seliger's office; and Meghan
32	32	Yoyotte, in Senator Eckhardt's office; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Dr. Curry has earned numerous distinctions and
34	34	accolades during his long career in academia, and he has served
35	35	as a lecturer and presenter at conferences and professional
36	36	gatherings throughout the nation; he is highly regarded by his
37	37	colleagues, and he can reflect with pride on his outstanding
38	38	tenure as director of the Bob Bullock Scholars Program; now,
39	39	therefore, be it
40	40	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
41	41	Legislature, hereby commend Dr. James Allan Curry on his many
42	42	contributions to Baylor University and on his exceptional
43	43	leadership of the Bob Bullock Scholars Program and extend to him
44	44	best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
45	45	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
46	46	him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
