| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Elva Estrada, who recently retired from the Del Mar |

| 4 | 4 | | College Board of Regents after 14 years of outstanding service; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Elva Estrada joined the Del Mar College Board of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Regents in November of 2006, and she brought a wealth of relevant |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | experience to her position as a regent; her background in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | field of education included 35 years of experience in the roles |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of teacher, instructional supervisor, assistant principal, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | principal at the elementary and secondary levels; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Known for her quiet confidence and diplomatic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | qualities, she played an important role in the passage of two |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | successful bond referendums that addressed capital improvement |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | programs for the college to focus on providing the most advanced |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | facilities and learning resources to Coastal Bend residents; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, She chaired the Feria de las Flores Scholarship |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Program and the Christmas Posada Program, and she organized the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | annual Dr. Hector P. Garcia Texas State Recognition Day event; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | she has long been active in a wide range of professional and civic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | organizations, including the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the League of United Latin American Citizens, the Westside |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Business Association, and the Association of Community College |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Trustees; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | respected and admired by her colleagues and members of the Corpus |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Christi community, and her presence on the Del Mar College Board |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of Regents will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Elva Estrada for her exceptional |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | service on the Del Mar College Board of Regents and extend to her |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be |
