| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas School for the Deaf football team, which won |

| 4 | 4 | | the 2020 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Six-Man Division I state championship; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Rangers won the school's first state |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | championship in football by defeating previously unbeaten |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Veritas Academy by a score of 63-32; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rangers were |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | compelled to switch from 11-man to six-man football for the first |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | time in school history, and team members demonstrated |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | adaptability and perseverance in meeting this unique challenge; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the team earned national attention from such media outlets as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | NBC's Today show and ESPN's SportsCenter; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | head coach John Moore Jr. and with the invaluable efforts of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | assistant coaches Joshua Moore, Harvey Nathanson, and Al Reins, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Rangers have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Texas School for the Deaf and Texans across |

| 21 | 21 | | the state are proud of the Rangers for their hard work, their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas School for the Deaf |

| 26 | 26 | | football team on its outstanding season and extend |

| 27 | 27 | | congratulations to team members on winning the Texas Association |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of Private and Parochial Schools Six-Man Division I state |
|---|
