| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Shanda C. Larsen of the Boys & Girls Clubs of |

| 3 | 3 | | Wichita Falls has been named as a 2021 Regional Youth of the Year, |

| 4 | 4 | | and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | competition is the premier recognition program of the Boys & |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Girls Clubs of America; this comprehensive leadership |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | development initiative helps club members to build their skills |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | in such vital areas as communication, goal-setting, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | teamwork; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Victor and Sharon Larsen, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Ms. Larsen has been actively involved with the Southeast Club of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls for more than a decade; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | over the past year, she has put in approximately 135 volunteer |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | hours, and she lends her support to such initiatives as the Power |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Hour Homework and Reading Clubs, the SMART Girls program, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Healthy Habits; a role model for her fellow youth, she was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | selected to participate in a teen work program at the Southeast |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Club; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Shanda Larsen's selection as a Regional Youth of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the Year is a fitting tribute to her considerable success in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | academics and her proven leadership in her club and community, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and she may indeed reflect with pride on this prestigious honor; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Shanda C. Larsen on being named |

| 27 | 27 | | a Boys & Girls Clubs 2021 Regional Youth of the Year and extend to |

| 28 | 28 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success and a bright |
