5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Ruby Mae Washington, who died December |

7 | 7 | | 25, 2020, at the age of 86; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Mae Washington was born on December 14, 1934, |
---|
9 | 9 | | in Pittsburg, Texas; she grew up in the Harvard Switch Community, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and she graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1951; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, the late George L. |
---|
12 | 12 | | Washington Sr., were blessed with four children, Gwenda Joyce |
---|
13 | 13 | | Lowe, Lottie Jean Grant, George L. Washington Jr., and Lee Daryl |
---|
14 | 14 | | Washington; her three grandchildren and the rest of her loving |
---|
15 | 15 | | extended family were a source of much pride and joy for her; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Mae earned a license from the Tyler Barber |
---|
17 | 17 | | and Beauty College and went on to enjoy a long and productive |
---|
18 | 18 | | career as the owner of her beloved salon, Washington Clientele, |
---|
19 | 19 | | in Dallas; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her |
---|
21 | 21 | | daily life, she was an active member of several churches over the |
---|
22 | 22 | | course of her life; she taught Sunday school, sang in church |
---|
23 | 23 | | choirs, and participated in prayer bands and other ministries; |
---|
24 | 24 | | she became a loyal member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary |
---|
25 | 25 | | Baptist Church; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A woman of strength, wisdom, and grace, she gave |
---|
27 | 27 | | unselfishly to others, and she was treasured for her loving, |
---|
28 | 28 | | generous spirit by those who were privileged to share in her |
---|
29 | 29 | | life; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Washington was a devoted wife, mother, and |
---|
31 | 31 | | grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be |
---|
32 | 32 | | cherished forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, |
---|
33 | 33 | | be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
36 | 36 | | family of Ruby Mae Washington; and, be it further |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

38 | 38 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
39 | 39 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
