44 Ruby Mae Washington
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Ruby Mae Washington, who died December
77 25, 2020, at the age of 86; and
88 WHEREAS, Ruby Mae Washington was born on December 14, 1934,
99 in Pittsburg, Texas; she grew up in the Harvard Switch Community,
1010 and she graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1951; and
1111 WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, the late George L.
1212 Washington Sr., were blessed with four children, Gwenda Joyce
1313 Lowe, Lottie Jean Grant, George L. Washington Jr., and Lee Daryl
1414 Washington; her three grandchildren and the rest of her loving
1515 extended family were a source of much pride and joy for her; and
1616 WHEREAS, Ruby Mae earned a license from the Tyler Barber
1717 and Beauty College and went on to enjoy a long and productive
1818 career as the owner of her beloved salon, Washington Clientele,
1919 in Dallas; and
2020 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her
2121 daily life, she was an active member of several churches over the
2222 course of her life; she taught Sunday school, sang in church
2323 choirs, and participated in prayer bands and other ministries;
2424 she became a loyal member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary
2525 Baptist Church; and
2626 WHEREAS, A woman of strength, wisdom, and grace, she gave
2727 unselfishly to others, and she was treasured for her loving,
2828 generous spirit by those who were privileged to share in her
2929 life; and
3030 WHEREAS, Mrs. Washington was a devoted wife, mother, and
3131 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
3232 cherished forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
3333 be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3535 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3636 family of Ruby Mae Washington; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3838 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3939 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4040 memory of Ruby Mae Washington.
