| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jeff Williams for his exemplary service as mayor of |

| 4 | 4 | | the City of Arlington and for his extensive contributions to the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | community; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Jeff Williams is president of Graham |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Associates, Incorporated, an award-winning engineering and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | planning firm based in Arlington; he was elected to the office of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | mayor in 2015 after decades of service to the Arlington |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Williams moved to Arlington with his wife |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | more than 30 years ago to raise their children in a high-quality |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | public school system, and his professional contributions to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | city's infrastructure and cultural landscape have been |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | invaluable; before his mayoral election, his firm worked on such |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | projects as the Interstate Highway 30 Three Bridges Project, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Globe Life Park, and the Viridian development; in 2009, his firm |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | earned the Texas Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for the Cowboys Stadium, known today as the AT&T Stadium; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Williams is admired for his success in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | consensus building and his inclusive approach to leadership; he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | chaired the 2008 Arlington City Bond Election Committee and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 2014 Arlington Independent School District School Bond Election |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Committee, both of which passed by wide margins; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, He has given generously of his time to civic |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | leadership and volunteer roles; his contributions to a variety of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | organizations, including the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Salvation Army, and the Mission Arlington and River Legacy |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Foundation, have had a positive impact on the city, and he has |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | been honored with a Vandergriff Community Leadership Award; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Over the last 30 years, Jeff Williams has helped |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the City of Arlington to maintain its reputation as a model city, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and as its mayor, he has set lasting standards for leadership |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | that will benefit the city for generations to come; now, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jeff Williams for his outstanding |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | community service and his admirable leadership as mayor of the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | City of Arlington and extend to him sincere best wishes in all his |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
