22 WHEREAS, The Boomtown Shootout barbecue competition is a
33 much-anticipated event that takes place annually in
44 Burkburnett; and
55 WHEREAS, Held each spring, the contest is sponsored by the
66 Redneck Culinary Academy and is sanctioned by the International
77 Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the organization's state
88 championship cook-offs; the event attracts accomplished
99 pitmasters from across Texas who put their skills to the test as
1010 they vie for top honors in a variety of categories, including
1111 brisket, pork ribs, and chicken; and
1212 WHEREAS, The cook-off is held in conjunction with
1313 Burkburnett's annual Boomtown Shootout Spring Festival; along
1414 with great food and spirited culinary competition, attendees can
1515 also enjoy live music performances, arts and crafts vendors, and
1616 other attractions; and
1717 WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Boomtown Shootout
1818 barbecue contest is a fitting celebration of the tasty fare that
1919 is such an integral part of Texas culture, and it is a source of
2020 fond memories for countless residents and visitors; now,
2121 therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
2323 Legislature, hereby commemorate the Boomtown Shootout barbecue
2424 competition and extend to the event's organizers sincere best
2525 wishes for the future.
