2	2	WHEREAS, The Boomtown Shootout barbecue competition is a
3	3	much-anticipated event that takes place annually in
4	4	Burkburnett; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Held each spring, the contest is sponsored by the
6	6	Redneck Culinary Academy and is sanctioned by the International
7	7	Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the organization's state
8	8	championship cook-offs; the event attracts accomplished
9	9	pitmasters from across Texas who put their skills to the test as
10	10	they vie for top honors in a variety of categories, including
11	11	brisket, pork ribs, and chicken; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The cook-off is held in conjunction with
13	13	Burkburnett's annual Boomtown Shootout Spring Festival; along
14	14	with great food and spirited culinary competition, attendees can
15	15	also enjoy live music performances, arts and crafts vendors, and
16	16	other attractions; and
17	17	WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Boomtown Shootout
18	18	barbecue contest is a fitting celebration of the tasty fare that
19	19	is such an integral part of Texas culture, and it is a source of
20	20	fond memories for countless residents and visitors; now,
21	21	therefore, be it
22	22	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
23	23	Legislature, hereby commemorate the Boomtown Shootout barbecue
24	24	competition and extend to the event's organizers sincere best
25	25	wishes for the future.
