| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Ezequiel P. Laurel, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | December 11, 2020, at the age of 85; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native Laredoan, Ezequiel Laurel was born on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | April 29, 1935; he attended Saint Joseph Academy, and he earned a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | diploma from Martin High School; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Laurel had a rewarding career in public |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | service and was an esteemed community leader; he served as the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Webb County tax assessor-collector for 25 years and later served |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the El Paso Central Appraisal District for 14 years; he was |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | active as a volunteer in his community and was a supporter of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Habitat for Humanity for many years; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Laurel shared 36 years of marriage with his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | beloved wife, Bebe Caballero Laurel; he was blessed with 10 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | children, Rick Laurel, Ezequiel P. Laurel Jr., Steven Laurel, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Geoffrey Laurel, Laurence Laurel, Christopher Laurel, Michael |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Laurel, Alan Laurel, Judith Laurel, and John Thomas Laurel, and his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | four grandchildren were a source of much pride and joy for him; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Ezequiel Laurel was a man of spiritual devotion, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and he inspired those who knew him through his commitment to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | public service; he was beloved by many, and he leaves behind |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family of Ezequiel P. Laurel; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
