1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 326
2	2	WHEREAS, Dr. B. D. Tiner of San Antonio is retiring from
3	3	Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates on May 1, 2021, drawing
4	4	to a close an outstanding career in clinical practice that has
5	5	spanned 40 years; and
6	6	WHEREAS, In addition to caring for his patients at Alamo
7	7	Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, Dr. Tiner currently teaches
8	8	at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
9	9	in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he
10	10	previously directed the residency program as a tenured associate
11	11	professor; moreover, he is a proud veteran of the United States
12	12	Navy, serving for 25 years before retiring in 2000 at the rank of
13	13	captain; and
14	14	WHEREAS, This esteemed oral surgeon has authored and
15	15	coauthored numerous scientific publications and book chapters,
16	16	and he has held leadership positions in several professional
17	17	organizations, including president of the American Board of Oral
18	18	and Maxillofacial Surgery and of the Texas Society of Oral and
19	19	Maxillofacial Surgeons; in October 2020, he became president of
20	20	the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Dr. Tiner earned his bachelor's degree at
22	22	Arkansas State University and went on to earn his doctor of
23	23	dental surgery degree at the University of Tennessee College of
24	24	Dentistry in 1975 and his doctor of medicine degree at The
25	25	University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio in 1987; he
26	26	also completed an internship in anesthesia and a residency in
27	27	oral and maxillofacial surgery at The University of Texas Health
28	28	Science Center in San Antonio; his accolades include the L. Jack
29	29	Bolton Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Society of Oral
30	30	and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and he is a Fellow of both the
31	31	American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Oral
32	32	and Maxillofacial Surgeons; and
33	33	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Tiner has enjoyed the
34	34	love and support of his wife, Brenda, and their two children,
35	35	Lauren and Colby; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Over the past four decades, Dr. B. D. Tiner's care
37	37	and expertise have greatly benefited his patients and earned him
38	38	the respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed
39	39	reflect with pride on a career well spent as he begins the next
40	40	exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
41	41	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
42	42	Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. B. D. Tiner on his
43	43	retirement from Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates and
44	44	extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
45	45	further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for Dr. Tiner as an expression of high regard from the
48	48	Texas Senate.
