SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 345 In Memory of Maria Aurelia Rivera WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Maria Aurelia Rivera, who died January 14, 2021, at the age of 66; and WHEREAS, Aurelia Rivera was born to Jesus and Ramona Rios on December 25, 1954; she was a kind and loving person, and her genuine concern for others helped her shape a rewarding life of service as an educator; and WHEREAS, Aurelia earned a bachelor of science degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin and a master of education degree in counseling and guidance from The University of Texas at Brownsville; she was a trusted teacher and school counselor for 34 years, and most of her career entailed service at Villareal Elementary School; and WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Aurelia was married to Gumecindo Rivera Jr.; they were blessed with three children, and their eight grandchildren enriched her life immeasurably; and WHEREAS, Admired by friends for her easy smile and her generous spirit, Aurelia Rivera always went out of her way to help a friend, neighbor, or student in need; she was a cherished member of her community, and she will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Maria Aurelia Rivera; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Aurelia Rivera.
