| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Maria Aurelia Rivera, who died January |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 14, 2021, at the age of 66; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Aurelia Rivera was born to Jesus and Ramona Rios |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | on December 25, 1954; she was a kind and loving person, and her |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | genuine concern for others helped her shape a rewarding life of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | service as an educator; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Aurelia earned a bachelor of science degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | education from The University of Texas at Austin and a master of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | education degree in counseling and guidance from The University |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of Texas at Brownsville; she was a trusted teacher and school |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | counselor for 34 years, and most of her career entailed service |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | at Villareal Elementary School; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Aurelia was married to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Gumecindo Rivera Jr.; they were blessed with three children, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | their eight grandchildren enriched her life immeasurably; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Admired by friends for her easy smile and her |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | generous spirit, Aurelia Rivera always went out of her way to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | help a friend, neighbor, or student in need; she was a cherished |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | member of her community, and she will long be remembered with |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share in her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of Maria Aurelia Rivera; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |

| 33 | 33 | | memory of Aurelia Rivera. |
