| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Capitol Land and Livestock on the occasion of its 75th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Capitol Land and Livestock was founded in 1946 by |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Eugene Schwertner; one of the largest cattle dealers in the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | United States, the company is still owned and managed by members |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of the Schwertner family; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Capitol Land and Livestock is headquartered in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Schwertner, Texas, and procures cattle throughout the state and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana; the business serves a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | unique role within the industry by operating through a hub system |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | that enables the company to prepare cattle in a matter of hours |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for shipment to buyers around the world and allows for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | efficient assembly and sorting of hundreds of cattle each day; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to buying and selling cattle, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | company also offers a weaning program, Schwertner Select, which |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | allows calves to graze in their natural habitat during the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | weaning process; the methods employed in the program reduce |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | stress on the calves and add value to customers' cattle, and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | company has weaned over 100,000 calves each year for the past |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | three decades; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For 75 years, Capitol Land and Livestock has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | played a significant role in making Texas a leader in cattle |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | ranching and farming, and it is truly fitting that the company |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | receive special recognition as it reaches this milestone in its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Capitol Land and Livestock on its |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | many contributions to the cattle industry in the Lone Star State |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and extend to its owners and employees best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | success; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
