| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Mike Donnelly, who is retiring as mayor of Double Oak |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | after many years of outstanding service to the community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Donnelly moved to Double Oak with his |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | family in 2002 and became immediately active in the community |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | as a volunteer; he was named a member of the town's budget |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | committee in 2003 and was elected to the town council the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | following year; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, As a council member, he played an important role |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the formation of a partnership between the town and American |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Airlines, Incorporated, and the corporation provided the town |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with automated external defibrillators and a training unit for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the town hall and police department; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He was elected mayor in 2009 and served until |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2011, when he stepped down to attend to family matters; he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | returned to the council in 2012, served as mayor pro tempore, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and then took the mayor's seat again in 2013; he went on to be |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | elected mayor for the next four consecutive terms; he has been |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | noted throughout his time in public office for his fiscal |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | conservatism and his untiring support of the town's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professional employees; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, Mayor Donnelly has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | had a major impact on the success of the Double Oak community and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | its institutions; he is famous for the camaraderie he shares with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | its residents and for looking out for their safety and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | well-being, and it is truly fitting that he receive special |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Mike Donnelly on his exceptional |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | service as mayor of Double Oak and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
