1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 393
2	2	WHEREAS, Local dignitaries and other members of the
3	3	community gathered together on April 10, 2021, for the
4	4	groundbreaking of Cole Gordon's Helping Hands Ranch in Alvin; and
5	5	WHEREAS, The ranch is dedicated to the memory of Cole
6	6	Gordon, a Friendswood High School student who made immeasurable
7	7	contributions to his community before his passing on September
8	8	22, 2019, at the age of 17; the son of Scott and Heather Gordon,
9	9	Cole was involved in a wide variety of activities and
10	10	organizations, including FFA, the Houston Livestock Show and
11	11	Rodeo Cookoff, the Lighthouse Charity Team, the Friendswood
12	12	Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club Galveston; moreover, he gave
13	13	of his time and talents to help the Friendswood Fire, Police, and
14	14	EMS Departments and Galveston County Emergency Response; he was
15	15	also a valued congregant of Friendswood United Methodist Church;
16	16	during the last nine years of his life, he participated in 750
17	17	charitable events and made a difference in the lives of thousands
18	18	of people; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Cole's legacy of service lives on through the Cole
20	20	Gordon Helping Hand Foundation, which seeks to provide
21	21	agricultural and environmental education for area children; once
22	22	the organization completes construction on Helping Hands Ranch,
23	23	it will offer young Texans the opportunity to learn various
24	24	skills, such as fishing, raising livestock, and gun safety; and
25	25	WHEREAS, While his journey on this earth ended far too
26	26	soon, Cole Gordon devoted his life to making the world a better
27	27	place, and Helping Hands Ranch will serve as a fitting tribute to
28	28	the memory of this exceptionally kind and generous young man;
29	29	now, therefore, be it
30	30	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
31	31	Legislature, hereby commemorate the groundbreaking of Cole
32	32	Gordon's Helping Hands Ranch and extend sincere best wishes to
33	33	all those associated with this worthwhile endeavor; and, be it
34	34	further
35	35	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
36	36	prepared for the ranch as an expression of high regard from the
37	37	Texas Senate.
