2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize the Honorable Ralph H. Walton Jr., who is retiring as |
---|
4 | 4 | | judge of the 355th Judicial District Court after 27 years of |
---|
5 | 5 | | service on the bench; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong Texan, Ralph Walton was born in |
---|
7 | 7 | | Palestine and grew up in Grapeland; he earned his juris doctorate |
---|
8 | 8 | | degree from Baylor University School of Law in 1972, and he has |
---|
9 | 9 | | been a resident of Hood County since 1974; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Judge Walton began his career in the private |
---|
11 | 11 | | practice of law in 1973, and he continued in private practice while |
---|
12 | 12 | | serving as city attorney for the City of Granbury from 1977 to 1985; |
---|
13 | 13 | | he has been board certified in criminal law since 1986, and he |
---|
14 | 14 | | graduated from the Texas College for Judicial Studies in 2007; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, An esteemed public servant, he first began service |
---|
16 | 16 | | on the bench of the 355th Judicial District in 1985; he returned to |
---|
17 | 17 | | private practice in 1989, and he was again elected to the bench in |
---|
18 | 18 | | 1999; he has presided over the court with distinction and is noted |
---|
19 | 19 | | for his diligence and fair-mindedness; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A widely respected professional, Judge Walton is |
---|
21 | 21 | | a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a former delegate |
---|
22 | 22 | | for state Republican conventions; he has given generously to the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Granbury community and the state through his service in civic |
---|
24 | 24 | | leadership and volunteer positions; he is a charter member of the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Granbury Rotary Club and has been a member of Leadership |
---|
26 | 26 | | Granbury; he can reflect with pride on his impressive record of |
---|
27 | 27 | | community and public service and his many accomplishments in the |
---|
28 | 28 | | judicial system; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Judge Ralph H. Walton Jr. on his |
---|
31 | 31 | | exemplary career and his many contributions to his community and |
---|
32 | 32 | | state and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it |
---|
