11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 410
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the Honorable Ralph H. Walton Jr., who is retiring as
44 judge of the 355th Judicial District Court after 27 years of
55 service on the bench; and
66 WHEREAS, A lifelong Texan, Ralph Walton was born in
77 Palestine and grew up in Grapeland; he earned his juris doctorate
88 degree from Baylor University School of Law in 1972, and he has
99 been a resident of Hood County since 1974; and
1010 WHEREAS, Judge Walton began his career in the private
1111 practice of law in 1973, and he continued in private practice while
1212 serving as city attorney for the City of Granbury from 1977 to 1985;
1313 he has been board certified in criminal law since 1986, and he
1414 graduated from the Texas College for Judicial Studies in 2007; and
1515 WHEREAS, An esteemed public servant, he first began service
1616 on the bench of the 355th Judicial District in 1985; he returned to
1717 private practice in 1989, and he was again elected to the bench in
1818 1999; he has presided over the court with distinction and is noted
1919 for his diligence and fair-mindedness; and
2020 WHEREAS, A widely respected professional, Judge Walton is
2121 a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a former delegate
2222 for state Republican conventions; he has given generously to the
2323 Granbury community and the state through his service in civic
2424 leadership and volunteer positions; he is a charter member of the
2525 Granbury Rotary Club and has been a member of Leadership
2626 Granbury; he can reflect with pride on his impressive record of
2727 community and public service and his many accomplishments in the
2828 judicial system; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3030 Legislature, hereby commend Judge Ralph H. Walton Jr. on his
3131 exemplary career and his many contributions to his community and
3232 state and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it
3333 further
3434 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3535 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
