5	5	WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
6	6	generosity of Angela Maria Farias of San Antonio, who passed away
7	7	on January 8, 2020, at the age of 70; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Laredo on February 16, 1949, the former
9	9	Angie Rodriguez was the daughter of Felipe and Jane Rodriguez;
10	10	she grew up with two brothers, Phillip and David, and graduated
11	11	from McCollum High School; later, she joined the staff of the
12	12	Harlandale Independent School District, and she loved working at
13	13	her alma mater, where her sweet smile and sunny disposition
14	14	brightened the days of colleagues and students alike; and
15	15	WHEREAS, She married Joe Farias on July 18, 1970, and they
16	16	became the parents of four treasured sons, Gabriel, Joey, Daniel,
17	17	and Jaime; while her children were young, she encouraged them in
18	18	all their athletic activities, taking many weekend road trips to
19	19	cheer them on, and their friends were also beneficiaries of her
20	20	motherly care and affection; she later took pride in becoming a
21	21	grandmother, and she delighted in attending her grandchildren's
22	22	events, from school carnivals and plays to sports competitions
23	23	and award ceremonies; eventually, she knew the joy of becoming a
24	24	great-grandmother as well; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Dedicated to her South Side community, Ms. Farias
26	26	was active in civic life, and she enthusiastically supported her
27	27	husband's endeavors during his tenure in the Texas House of
28	28	Representatives; he credited her with making him a better public
29	29	servant, and he liked to assert that she was actually the bigger
30	30	vote-getter; ever pleased to further expand the definition of
31	31	family, she welcomed his office staff into the fold; she was
32	32	commissioned as a Yellow Rose of Texas by Governor Ann Richards;
33	33	and
34	34	WHEREAS, Angie Farias lived a life that was rich in family,
35	35	friends, and community engagement, and those who were privileged
36	36	to share in her love and affection will forever hold her close in
37	37	their hearts; now, therefore, be it
38	38	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
39	39	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Angela Maria
40	40	Farias and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
41	41	family: to her husband, the Honorable Joe Farias; to her sons,
42	42	Gabriel Farias and his wife, Katie, Joey Farias Jr. and his wife,
43	43	Athena, Daniel Farias, and Jaime Farias and his wife, JoAna; to
44	44	her grandchildren, Niya, Xzavier, Analyssa, Joey, Gia, Nicholas,
45	45	Noah, Christian, Jasmine, and Elijah; to her
46	46	great-grandchildren, Eano, Braylon, and Chanel; to her father,
47	47	Felipe Rodriguez; to her brothers, Phillip and David Rodriguez;
48	48	and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
49	49	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
50	50	prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
51	51	this day, it do so in memory of Angie Farias.
