6 | 6 | | drew to a close with the passing of Roland R. Esparza of San |

7 | 7 | | Antonio on January 22, 2021, at the age of 53; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on November 4, 1967, to Roy and Anita |
---|
9 | 9 | | Esparza, Roland Esparza grew up with the companionship of a |
---|
10 | 10 | | brother, Mario, and three sisters, Leticia, Michele, and |
---|
11 | 11 | | Caroline; after graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in |
---|
12 | 12 | | San Antonio in 1986, he earned his bachelor's degree from The |
---|
13 | 13 | | University of Texas at Austin in 1989 and then enrolled at the |
---|
14 | 14 | | University of Houston Law Center, where he received a juris |
---|
15 | 15 | | doctorate in 1992; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Esparza established a successful law |
---|
17 | 17 | | practice, distinguishing himself as a skillful and highly |
---|
18 | 18 | | effective advocate for his clients, and he served as a municipal |
---|
19 | 19 | | court judge for the City of San Antonio from 1997 to 2003; highly |
---|
20 | 20 | | respected by his peers, he served on two committees for the San |
---|
21 | 21 | | Antonio Bar Association and also held membership in the Mexican |
---|
22 | 22 | | American Bar Association; each year since 2018, he had been |
---|
23 | 23 | | recognized by Scene In S.A. magazine as part of its "Best S.A. |
---|
24 | 24 | | Lawyers" feature, and he was further honored with a Client's |
---|
25 | 25 | | Choice Award; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Esparza enjoyed the |
---|
27 | 27 | | love and support of Amanda L. Muth, and the relationship they |
---|
28 | 28 | | shared was a source of much happiness and fulfillment to him; he |
---|
29 | 29 | | relished spending time with his family and taking them on |
---|
30 | 30 | | memorable vacations, and he looked forward to his weekly golf and |
---|
31 | 31 | | dinner outings with friends; possessing a positive outlook and a |
---|
32 | 32 | | strong sense of faith, he was also beloved for his generosity and |
---|
33 | 33 | | humble attitude; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Roland R. Esparza was an accomplished attorney |
---|
35 | 35 | | who was deeply devoted to the people he served and to his circle |
---|
36 | 36 | | of loved ones and friends, and he will forever be a source of |
---|
37 | 37 | | inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

39 | 39 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Roland R. Esparza |
