| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lance Barrow, an award-winning sports television |

| 4 | 4 | | producer, who is stepping down from his position with CBS Sports |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | and bringing to a close his legendary 44-year career; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth and a proud graduate of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Abilene Christian University, Lance began his career with CBS |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Sports in 1976 as a spotter and statistician for Pat Summerall at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | his hometown's celebrated Colonial Country Club golf course; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | this assistant role enabled him to work as a spotter at his first |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Master's Tournament in 1977; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A resident of Colleyville, Lance continued his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | career with CBS Sports and has returned to the Master's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Tournament every year since 1997, when he was first hired as the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | coordinating producer of CBS Golf; during his tenure, he also |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | served for 13 years as the coordinating producer for the National |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Football League on CBS; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An esteemed leader in his field, Lance has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | produced telecasts for professional boxing matches, National |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Basketball Association and National Collegiate Athletic |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association tournaments, NASCAR races, including the 1998 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Daytona 500, four Super Bowls, including Super Bowl 50, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | events for two Olympic Games; he has worked professionally with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | such television broadcasting legends as Pat Summerall, John |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Madden, and Jim Nantz, and among his most memorable production |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | experiences are the 1986 and 1997 Master's Tournaments, when he |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | saw Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods win championships; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Lance is encouraged in all things by the love and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | support of his wife, Melissa, and his two daughters, Katie and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Caroline; he has amassed numerous professional honors, from his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | induction into the Caddie Hall of Fame to his 12 Emmy Awards, yet |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | he is admired by friends and loved ones for his humble nature and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | consistently kind spirit; and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Lance Barrow has pioneered modern standards for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | excellence in national sports broadcasting, and he can reflect |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | with pride on his nationally acclaimed career as he embarks on |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | the next chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Lance Barrow as a treasured Texan |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | and commend him on his outstanding career with CBS Sports; and, |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | be it further |
