44 Stuart Samuel Klein
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Stuart Samuel Klein, who died May 2,
77 2021, at the age of 88; and
88 WHEREAS, Stuart Klein was born on August 25, 1932, in
99 Chicago; he grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and graduated from
1010 McAllen High School in 1950 before serving the nation in the
1111 United States Army; and
1212 WHEREAS, He returned to Texas after his military service
1313 and earned a degree from Pan American University; a passionate
1414 and talented artist from a young age, he was a skilled cartoonist
1515 and painter and was known for his captivating depictions of the
1616 Old West; in 1960, he opened S. Klein Galleries, a successful art
1717 studio and frame shop in McAllen; and
1818 WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Sylvia Gayle
1919 Sachs, on July 4, 1965, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage
2020 together; they were blessed with three daughters, Alysa, Denise,
2121 and Marina, and eight grandchildren, who were a source of much
2222 pride and joy for him; and
2323 WHEREAS, He was active in a range of civic and community
2424 organizations, including the McAllen Jaycees, the B'nai B'rith
2525 Lodge, and the Temple Emanuel board of directors; he was in much
2626 demand as a lecturer and speaker and was renowned for his
2727 expertise on Jewish history and the history of South Texas; and
2828 WHEREAS, A man of kindness and wit, he was a devoted
2929 husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories
3030 that will be cherished forever by his family and countless
3131 friends; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3333 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3434 family of Stuart Samuel Klein; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3737 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3838 memory of Stuart Klein.
