4	4	Stuart Samuel Klein
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Stuart Samuel Klein, who died May 2,
7	7	2021, at the age of 88; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Stuart Klein was born on August 25, 1932, in
9	9	Chicago; he grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and graduated from
10	10	McAllen High School in 1950 before serving the nation in the
11	11	United States Army; and
12	12	WHEREAS, He returned to Texas after his military service
13	13	and earned a degree from Pan American University; a passionate
14	14	and talented artist from a young age, he was a skilled cartoonist
15	15	and painter and was known for his captivating depictions of the
16	16	Old West; in 1960, he opened S. Klein Galleries, a successful art
17	17	studio and frame shop in McAllen; and
18	18	WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Sylvia Gayle
19	19	Sachs, on July 4, 1965, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage
20	20	together; they were blessed with three daughters, Alysa, Denise,
21	21	and Marina, and eight grandchildren, who were a source of much
22	22	pride and joy for him; and
23	23	WHEREAS, He was active in a range of civic and community
24	24	organizations, including the McAllen Jaycees, the B'nai B'rith
25	25	Lodge, and the Temple Emanuel board of directors; he was in much
26	26	demand as a lecturer and speaker and was renowned for his
27	27	expertise on Jewish history and the history of South Texas; and
28	28	WHEREAS, A man of kindness and wit, he was a devoted
29	29	husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories
30	30	that will be cherished forever by his family and countless
31	31	friends; now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
33	33	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
34	34	family of Stuart Samuel Klein; and, be it further
35	35	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
36	36	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
37	37	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
38	38	memory of Stuart Klein.
