SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 452 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Elijah R. Brown Jr., who is retiring from the Texas Department of State Health Services on June 2, 2021, after more than 55 years of exemplary service with the agency; and WHEREAS, A highly esteemed employee, Elijah Brown began his career with state health services on September 1, 1965; he has served with distinction as the manager of the Vision and Hearing Program and the Spinal Screening Program for the department; and WHEREAS, In the role of manager, he has overseen the training of professional screeners who evaluate preschool and school-age children to detect vision or hearing problems and abnormal spinal curvatures; his focus on early intervention has helped to ensure children receive appropriate care when it will benefit them most; and WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has handled his far-reaching responsibilities with exceptional skill and dedication, and he has made a positive difference in the lives of innumerable Texas families; he has set lasting standards for excellence that will help vital agency programs thrive long into the future; and WHEREAS, A highly respected public servant, Elijah Brown is admired by his colleagues for his professionalism and his warm and engaging personality; his hearty laugh and exuberant storytelling were a source of joy to all who worked with him, and his presence at the Texas Department of State Health Services will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby commend Elijah R. Brown Jr. on his outstanding career and his many contributions to this state and extend to him best wishes in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
