SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 462
In Memory
of
Rosario Vasquez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Rosario Vasquez, who died February 26,
2021, at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, Rosario Vasquez was an exemplary citizen who was
widely respected and admired for her achievements and her many
contributions to the citizens in her Laredo community; and
WHEREAS, Rosario Vasquez was born on July 11, 1947; she
married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Jorge Vasquez,
and the couple was blessed with four children, Elizabeth, Emiliano,
Iris, and Jorge Alberto; she was known lovingly by her many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Grandma Chayo"; and
WHEREAS, She enjoyed a rewarding 46-year career with Joe
Brand Stores, and she considered her place of work a second home
because of the lifelong friends she made there; later in life,
she found purpose and fulfillment in her work with the Laredo
Cancer Society, and she became an inspirational public speaker
and a dedicated organizer in support of the organization's
programs and goals; and
WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was
noted for her warmth, generosity, and wisdom, and she leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Rosario Vasquez; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Rosario Vasquez.
