| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Golden Soror Debra Renee' Nathan Hopson, a 50-year |

| 4 | 4 | | member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | honored by Alpha Xi Omega Chapter at its 2021 Founders' Day |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | event; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | international service organization that was founded on the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | campus of Howard University in 1908; it is the oldest |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Greek-lettered organization established by African American |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | college-educated women; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Debra Renee' Nathan Hopson was inducted into the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1971; over |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the years, she has remained a loyal member of the sorority and has |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | served as a mentor and role model to countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Debra Renee' Nathan Hopson is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | recognition for her longtime membership in and service to Alpha |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Kappa Alpha Sorority and for the important role she has played in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | helping to encourage leadership, scholarship, personal |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | development, and community service through the sorority's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | programs; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend Golden Soror Debra Renee' Nathan |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Hopson on her dedicated service and her many achievements and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | extend to her congratulations on being honored by the Alpha Xi |

| 26 | 26 | | Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, at its |

| 27 | 27 | | 2021 Founders' Day event; and, be it further |
