SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 499
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Gregory Harrington, who has been named the 2021 Parent
Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools
Association; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Harrington serves on the Advisory Board of
Harmony Science Academy, a public charter school, and on the
Strategic Planning Committee of the Pflugerville Independent
School District; and
WHEREAS, He has used his platform as a member of the
National Society of Black Engineers to organize opportunities
for area students to meet with professionals from science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations; he
has also organized a back-to-school parade and fund-raiser to
purchase school supplies for students who need them; and
WHEREAS, He was a motivational speaker at the 2021 Parent
Pep Rally hosted by the Texas Public Charter Schools Association,
and he regularly meets with Central Texas lawmakers on behalf of
parents; and
WHEREAS, He is a powerful advocate for students and
families in Central Texas, and it is truly fitting that he
receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby commend Gregory Harrington on his commitment
to excellence in education and extend congratulations to him on
his selection as the 2021 Parent Advocate of the Year; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
