                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 501
 In Memory
 of
 Pinckney Clift Price
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Dr. Pinckney Clift Price, who died
 February 19, 2021, at the age of 97; and
 WHEREAS, Clift Price was born on February 8, 1924, in
 Bonham; he grew up in communities across Texas and Arkansas, and
 he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1940;
 at the age of 16, he entered The University of Texas at Austin,
 where he excelled academically; and
 WHEREAS, After his medical training at The University of
 Texas Medical Branch and a pediatric residency in Galveston, he
 served with distinction in the United States Navy during the
 Korean War; and
 WHEREAS, Following his military service, he moved with his
 family to Austin and began his practice in pediatric medicine
 with the Children's Medical Center; after 24 years of private
 practice, he became chief of Texas Maternal and Child Health; he
 later served for a decade as the associate commissioner of
 Personal Health Service for the Texas Health Department; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished medical career, he
 focused on improving the health and well-being of all children;
 he played an important role in the campaign to fluoridate
 Austin's water supply, and during his time in state service, he
 worked with doctors in Russia and China to help them learn modern
 hygienic practices; he also worked for years on Rotary Club efforts
 to establish a tuberculosis clinic in Reynosa, Mexico; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Price was active in a wide range of
 professional and civic organizations, including the Texas
 Medical Association, the Texas Pediatric Society, the Center for
 Child Protection, the Barbara Jordan Foundation, the Austin
 University Rotary Club, the Austin Yacht Club, the Headliners
 Club, and many others; he was a founding member of Springboard, an
 organization established for improving childhood literacy; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
 and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
 his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Dr. Pinckney Clift Price; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Dr. Clift Price.
