| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ernest L. Williams on his many contributions to his |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | community and his outstanding 25-year career as a Texas educator; |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Williams graduated with a degree in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | elementary education from The University of Texas--Pan American, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and he began his career in education with the Harlingen |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Independent School District in 1968; he served the students of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the district as a sixth grade teacher for ten years before |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | beginning successful careers in real estate and insurance; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Williams returned to teaching in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Harlingen Independent School District in 1990 and served as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | ninth grade history teacher and junior high golf coach; he went |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | on to serve as a sixth grade teacher and an elementary school |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | coach in the Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | until his retirement in 2005; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, During his 25 years as an educator in public |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | schools, Mr. Williams made a positive impact on the lives of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | thousands of young Texans; he sought to inspire in his students |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | an appreciation for challenge and a true love of learning, and he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | helped instill in them the same principles of kindness and good |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | citizenship that he modeled for his own five children; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Ernest Williams is a devoted husband and father, an |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | avid golfer and fisherman, and a treasured friend to many; he is an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | esteemed member of the Harlingen community, and it is indeed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fitting that he receive special recognition for his exemplary |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service to his community and state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Ernest L. Williams on his many |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | contributions to the Lone Star State and extend to him best |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | wishes for continued success in his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
