SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 510 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Oscar Guajardo, who is retiring from the Brownsville Independent School District after more than 45 years of outstanding service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Guajardo began his distinguished career in education as a physical education aide in Brownsville while still attending college; after earning a degree from Texas A&I University in 1972, he taught for a time in Port Isabel before returning to Brownsville as a teacher at Skinner Elementary School; he also earned a master's degree and a professional administration degree; and WHEREAS, He was a member of the special education faculty at Skinner Elementary School for 20 years before working as a counselor at Victoria Heights and Perez Elementary Schools for 10 years; in 2007, he began working full-time at Perez Elementary School, where he has developed many lasting friendships; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, Mr. Guajardo has had a positive impact on the lives of countless students, and his presence at Perez Elementary School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby commend Oscar Guajardo on his exceptional service to the people of Brownsville as an educator with the Brownsville Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
