| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The observance of National School Counselor Week |

| 3 | 3 | | from February 1 through 7, 2021, provides a fitting opportunity |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | to recognize professional school counselors across Texas; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, These outstanding individuals are employed in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | public and private schools throughout the state, and they hold |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | dual certifications in teaching and counseling; dedicated to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | helping youth reach their full potential, school counselors |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | encourage students to explore their abilities, interests, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | talents, emotional well-being, and mental health; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, School counselors work closely with teachers, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | principals, and other campus personnel to guide students through |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the process of setting goals for themselves; in addition, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | counselors engage with parents to support the educational, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | personal, social, and emotional growth of their children; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, As committed educators, school counselors |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | identify and utilize community resources to enhance |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | comprehensive counseling programs; an integral part of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | educational process, these programs enable students to succeed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and become productive members of society; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to the development of our young people, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professional school counselors are helping to ensure that the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | future of the Lone Star State rests in capable hands, and they are |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for their invaluable |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 1 through 7, 2021, as |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | National School Counselor Week and extend to all professional |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | school counselors of Texas sincere best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | success; and, be it further |
