| 3 | 3 | | distinction with her receipt of the American Heritage Girls Stars & |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Stars & Stripes Award is the highest honor |

| 6 | 6 | | given by AHG, a faith-centered leadership development program |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | for girls 5 to 18 years of age; dedicated to the mission of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | building women of integrity through service to God, family, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | community, and country, the initiative provides a wide range of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | programs for youth as they learn the values of perseverance and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | responsibility; award criteria includes achieving a required |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | number of merit badges, holding a troop leadership position, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | overseeing a service project, and passing a board review; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Gary and Ellen Samek, Rachel Anne |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Samek belongs to AHG Troop TX1618; she joined AHG at the age of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | five and is the first in her family to complete the program, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | having earned all five of the level awards over the course of her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 13 years of membership; for the Stars & Stripes Award, she |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | exceeded the required number of 16 merit badges by receiving 34, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and she put in more than 350 hours on her community service |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | project that involved building four fitness and exercise |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | stations for residents along the Jaycee Park walking trail in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Gainesville; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, During her high school years, Ms. Samek has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | served as the senior girl leader and elite honor guard commander |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | for her troop; moreover, she has garnered numerous awards as a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | member of the Cooke County 4-H Club, and she is also affiliated |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | with the Texas 4-H Council, the Benjamin Lyon Chapter of the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Star of Destiny Chapter of Colonial Dames 17th Century; in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | addition, she is a member of the Red River Christian |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Homeschoolers community, New Life Bible Church, and Awana Clubs |

| 33 | 33 | | of Denton Bible Church; and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished young Texan has demonstrated |

| 35 | 35 | | remarkable initiative and dedication in the pursuit of her goals |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | and service to her fellow citizens, and she is a source of great |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | pride to her family and her community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

| 39 | 39 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Rachel Anne Samek on receiving |

| 40 | 40 | | the American Heritage Girls Stars & Stripes Award and extend to |

| 41 | 41 | | her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
